Head of the Clinical Negligence department
I specialise in helping injured patients and their relatives to seek compensation for poor medical care. I also act for people who received negligent legal advice regarding settlement of claims. I enjoy standing up for the underdog against a more powerful and wealthier opponent I get to the heart of legal questions quickly. I have acted for many patients where negligent care has caused serious neurological injury, often to children. I try build a picture of day-to-day life so I can advise on whether there are short term measures to give urgent help (e.g. interim damages payments), as well as a longer term strategy for winning the case. I am listed as a ‘Recommended Lawyer’ in the Legal 500. I am also a Law Society accredited specialist and qualified solicitor advocate. I enjoy acting in cases which other lawyers have turned down and have recovered damages in excess of £1,000,000 in three cases where clients had previously received advice that there was no claim. I studied Law at Oxford University and went on to head a Medical Negligence team at an Australian firm for 3 years before returning to the UK where I worked two national firms.
