I am a lawyer with wide ranging experience of civil- and commercial litigation and dispute resolution. My particular interest and specialism lies in housing management and asset management work. I provide advice and representation to clients on matters such as: • anti-social behaviour, including applications for injunctive relief and other emergency remedies • large-scale collective enfranchisement and right to manage • 1993 Act lease extensions • service charges and leasehold management including section 20 consultation • boundary disputes • claims related to breach of covenant, easements and rights of way • complex possession cases, often involving substance abuse or mental health issues • disrepair • arrears • squatters and trespassers • unlawful eviction • Equality Act, Human Rights Act and public law challenges including Judicial Review • succession and under-occupation • decanting of housing schemes • drafting tenancy agreements • security of tenure • homelessness and allocations • tenant insolvency • governance and regulation for housing associations including policy, procedure and complaints I have litigated matters in the County Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and various tribunals such as the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber - Residential Property) and have acted for clients in a number of significant cases including the landmark Court of Appeal case on tenancy deposits, Superstrike Ltd v. Rodrigues. I support the use of alternative dispute resolution where appropriate and have undertaken numerous mediations and negotiations. I am an accomplished public speaker and provide training to clients and others such as the Chartered Institute of Housing. I enjoy legal writing and have had articles and blogs published in 'Inside Housing', 'The Guardian' and the Law Society's 'Property In Practice' magazine. I contribute to the Guardian's Housing Network.
