  • I am a solicitor at a full service law firm with three offices across Hertfordshire and north London undertaking insolvency and commercial litigation. I am a Full member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and a Full member of the Insolvency Lawyers Association. I use my experience gained with director disqualification (‘DD’) applications as the 'directors friend'. For this I am a gamekeeper turned poacher. A selection of outcomes that I have recently achieved include: • The UK Administrators of BHS were not intending to pay our Far East supplier client for goods ordered in a six figure sum. Negotiated that the goods were returned to the supplier. Consequently the supplier was able to recover some 75% of the value of the goods as opposed to 10%. • Leading on and driving the response to a hard fought £0.72M Statutory Demand and Petition. Successfully annulling the bankruptcy order in the face of robust opposition. • Persuading the Secretary of State for Business to discontinue a DD investigation into a company with over £0.6M owed to HMRC which is not a usual outcome. • Settling in principle initially by Mediation a circa £1.2M on wide ranging antecedent transactions claim brought by a liquidator for £0.25M. • Other successful outcomes to DD actions to include regularly advising on Undertakings’ to save cost and solutions to avoid transgressing DD prohibitions. • Regularly advising directors as to their duties in the context of impending (or) insolvency with the objective of heading off or mitigating potential claims against them personally. • Settling a claim by a bank against a client personally for some 65% of the monies sought under a guarantee – a saving of £90,000 on the claim as alleged. Even taking account of legal costs the claim was settled for less than the face of the claim as alleged.
